> The "External links" field lets you attach to a document a link to files on Google Drive, web pages or other services: a technical brief, a contract, a specification. The field is in the Customer order, Supplier order, Work order and Production order. If you do not see it, turn on the "External links" switch in the document settings (gear → "Other").

## Why you need external links

The "External links" field stores in the document card the addresses of files and pages that live outside Bimp: on Google Drive, in a corporate wiki or on a website. This way everyone who works with the document opens the material they need in one click, without searching for it in email or messengers.

Typical cases:

- **Projects:** a technical brief, a mockup or an additional agreement stored in the cloud.
- **Production:** technical documentation or a bill of materials in the [Production order](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/production/production-order/).
- **Records of goods and services:** a supplier price list or a detailed product description in a [Supplier order](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/purchasing/purchase-order/) or [Customer order](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/customer-order/).

**Example.** A manager creates a Customer order for 1,000 eco bags and adds two links: one to the technical brief for designers (https://drive.google.com/spec-file) and one to the signed contract for accounting. In the Production order for these bags, they add a link to the materials specification for the workshop.

## How to add an external link

To add a link, open the document and enter the address in the "External links" field. The field is in the Customer order, Supplier order, [Work order](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/service/work-order/) and Production order.

1. Open the document, for example a Customer order (**Sales → Orders**).
2. In the left panel, in the **Other** group, find the "External links" field. It is right below the "Comment" field.
3. Click the add button (the **+** icon).
4. In the new field, paste the full link. It must start with `http://` or `https://`, for example `https://drive.google.com/folder/file`.

5. Save the document.

> [!NOTE] If the "External links" field is missing, click the gear icon at the top of the document, open the "Other" group and turn on the "External links" switch.

## How to open, change or delete a link

Each added link is shown as a separate row with its own buttons.

| Action | How to do it |
|---|---|
| Open | Click the chain icon next to the field: the link opens in a new browser tab |
| Change | Edit the text in the field and save the document |
| Delete | Click the trash icon (or the cross) next to the link and save the document |

In the document's view mode (without editing), all saved links are clickable, so you do not need to switch to edit mode.

## Common problems

**The link does not open.** Cause: the address was entered without `http://` or `https://`, or it contains a mistake. Solution: edit the link by entering the full address, and save the document.

**A Google Drive link leads to a "No access" page.** Cause: access for employees is not set up for the file on Google Drive. This is a setting of Google Drive itself, not of Bimp. Solution: open access to the file by link or for the colleagues who need it.

**The "External links" field is not visible.** Cause: the field is turned off in the document settings. Solution: turn it on through the gear in the "Other" group, as described above.
