Updated: 2026-11-06

> To update selling prices when you receive goods, open the Goods receipt document and click the "Change prices" icon. Choose the price list, rule (for example, +50%), value X and the "Effective from" date, review the new prices and save. The change is started manually, not automatically.

## Why change prices from a receipt

If a supplier raised the purchase price but the selling price stayed the same, the markup shrinks. The "Change prices" button in the Goods receipt document lets you set new selling prices for the whole batch right away. See the separate article on [price rounding](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/pricing/price-rounding/) and how the write-off amount is calculated.

**Example.** A shop received 50 phone cases. Previously the purchase price was 100 UAH and the selling price 150 UAH. The supplier raised the purchase price to 120 UAH, and without a price change the markup would have dropped from 50 to 30 UAH. In the Goods receipt document, the manager chooses the retail [price list](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/pricing/price-lists/) and the rule "+ X%" with the value 50: the new price is calculated from the current one and comes to 180 UAH.

## How to change prices from a goods receipt

The steps are performed in the Goods receipt document.

1. Open **Purchasing → Goods receipts** and create a document or open an existing one. The items received must be in the table section.
2. In the left panel of the document, click the label icon **Change prices**. The "Change prices for selected products" form opens with the products of this document.

   ![Goods receipt document No. 18: in the left panel the label icon with the tooltip "Change prices" is highlighted; on the right a table with six items (Labels, Gasoline A-92, Gasoline A-95 and others) with prices in EUR](https://bimpsoft.com/help/_img/3555d2a2-6028-454b-8648-d01c347f8eea.webp)

3. In the "Price list" field, choose the price list in which to change prices (for example, "Retail" or "Wholesale").
4. In the "Calculation rule" field, choose a formula:
   - "+ X" / "− X" — add or subtract an amount;
   - "+ X%" / "− X%" — change by a percentage;
   - "* X" / "/ X" — increase or decrease by a factor of X.
5. Enter the value in the "X" field.
6. In the "Effective from" field, specify the date and time when the new prices take effect (by default, the current moment).
7. Click **Apply to new price** (**Apply**). In the table, check the columns: "Base price" — the price the rule is calculated from, "Current price" — what was in the price list, "New price" — the result.
8. Click **Save**.

> [!WARNING] If "Effective from" has a future date, the product is sold at the old price today, and the new one activates at the specified time.

## How this differs from a bulk price update

The form and rules are the same as in [bulk price update](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/pricing/bulk-price-update/). The only difference is where the products come from: here, from the Goods receipt document; there, from the products selected in the "Prices" section. Posting the goods themselves is described in [Goods receipt](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/purchasing/goods-receipt/).

## FAQ

**Do selling prices change automatically when goods are received?**

No. The user changes prices manually with the "Change prices" button in the Goods receipt document. Bimp only pulls in the products from the document and calculates new prices by your rule.

**What happens if I enter tomorrow's date in the "Effective from" field?**

Today the product is sold at the old price, and the new one activates automatically at the specified time.

**How do I keep a stable markup when the purchase price grows?**

Use the "+ X%" rule: for example, +40% keeps the margin at the same level relative to the price it is calculated from.
