> Goods are not reserved when they are not in stock on the document date, are already reserved by another order, reservation is turned off in the accounting settings, or the order has a closed status. A negative reserve appears when the "Reserve" columns in the order and in the sales document do not match.

## The goods are in stock but are not reserved

The most likely cause is a date mismatch: Bimp checks the balance not for today but for the date specified in the order or in the Stock reservation document. Other interface glitches, such as NaN instead of numbers, are covered in the article on [common interface errors](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/basics/troubleshooting/).

**Cause.** On that date the goods were not yet on the balance (the receipt was posted later) or they are already reserved for another order. The operation is then not posted.

**How to fix it.**

1. In **Warehouse → Products and services**, find the product and click the number in the "Stock in warehouses" column.
2. In the window that opens, in the date field at the top left, set the date and time of your document.
3. Look at the stock balance, "Available", and "Reserve" by warehouse at that moment. If the goods were not yet there at the selected time, they are not shown in the table.
4. Change the date in the document to the current one, or release the reservation that holds the goods.

You can check the same in the "Stock movement" report: filter by the product you need and look at the balance on the document date. The report is described in [Stock movement](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/reports/stock-movement-report/).

## The "Reserve" column in the order shows 0

The "Reserve" column is filled in automatically only when reservation is turned on in the settings and the goods are in stock.

**Cause.** In **Company settings → [Accounting settings](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/getting-started/accounting-settings/)**, the "Goods reservation" switch is off for this document type (customer order, production order, or work order), or the value in the order line was changed manually.

**How to fix it.** Turn on the switch you need or enter the quantity in the "Reserve" column manually. If reservation is turned off on purpose, reserve the goods with a Stock reservation document; see [Reserving goods](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/reserves/).

## The goods are not in stock yet

If the balance is 0, no reservation is created, and this is normal behavior. To sell such goods and reserve them after they arrive, use booking, or create a Stock reservation document after the goods are posted; see [Selling goods that are out of stock](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/sell-out-of-stock/).

## The reservation disappeared after the order status changed

The reservation is released when an order moves to a status with the "Closed order" flag, for example "Completed". This is common when importing orders from a CRM: the order arrives already in a closed status, so the reservation does not remain.

**How to fix it.** Return the order to an active status ("New", "In progress") and set the reservation again. Set up the status mapping so that such orders do not arrive closed. The rule is described in [Order statuses](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/order-statuses/), and for the KeyCRM integration in [KeyCRM: reservations and order statuses](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/integrations/keycrm-reserves-and-statuses/).

## The reserve has a negative value

A negative reserve appears when the reserve in the sales document is greater than in the order it was created from. Example: in the customer order the reserve for a product is 0, and in the Sales of goods and services document it is 1. The difference 0 − 1 gives −1.

**Cause.** The "Reserve" columns in linked documents do not match.

**How to find and fix it.**

1. Open the "Stock balances without address" report (section **Reports**). It is described in [Stock with reserve](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/reports/stock-with-reserve-report/). Find the products with a negative value in the "Reserve" column. For convenience, export the report to Excel with the "Download report" button in the top right corner.

2. Go to **Sales → Orders**, open "Filters", and in the "Products" field choose this product.
3. Open the order with this product and go to the "Links" tab.
4. Open the linked [Sales of goods and services](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/shipment/) document. In the table part, correct the reserve so that it matches the reserve in the order, and save. For more about the tab, see [Links tab](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/basics/document-links/).

> [!WARNING] Do not release more from the reservation than was reserved for this order. Otherwise the stock analytics are distorted, and the negative values appear again.

## The reservation is not created during synchronization with KeyCRM

If an order arrives from KeyCRM without a reservation and reservation is turned on in the integration, the cause is often a zero balance in Bimp. Depending on whether selling into negative stock is allowed, the order is created without a reservation or is not created at all. The solution is to post the goods to stock. The other cases are covered in KeyCRM: reservations and order statuses.

## FAQ

**Why are goods not reserved even though they are in stock?**

The most common cause is the date. Bimp checks the stock balance on the document date, not today. If the goods were not yet posted on that date or are reserved for another order, no reservation is created. Check the balance for the date you need in the "by warehouses" window or in the "Stock movement" report.

**How do I check product availability on a specific date?**

In "Warehouse → Products and services", click the number in the "Stock in warehouses" column and set the date and time for which you create the reservation. Bimp shows the balance, available quantity, and reserve for each warehouse at that moment.

**Why did a negative value appear in the reserve?**

Most likely the reserve in the customer order is 0, while the Sales of goods and services document for this order has it: 0 − 1 = −1. The "Reserve" columns in linked documents must match.

**Why does the reserve disappear after importing an order with the "Completed" status?**

Because a status with the "Closed order" flag releases the reservation automatically. For the goods to stay reserved, the order must have an active status, for example "New" or "In progress".
