# Returning a specific series from a sold batch

> To return one series from a sold batch, open the Sales of goods and services document, in the product selection window clear all series, select only the one you need, and create a return based on the sale. If Bimp shows "Such serial number has already been created", the series is assigned to another batch and must be freed.

## When you need to return one series

Returning one series is needed when, out of the whole sold batch, the customer returns only one series of a product. Then only this series, not the whole shipped batch, must go into the return document.

## How to return a specific series

1. Open **Sales → Sales** and find the [Sales of goods and services](https://bimpsoft.com/en/help/sales/shipment/) document the goods were shipped with.

2. In the product selection window, clear all selected series.
3. Tick only the series the customer is returning, and transfer it to the document.

## The error "Such serial number has already been created"

Bimp shows the message "Such serial number has already been created" and blocks the return if "Series control by batch" is turned on in the settings. The system does not allow you to ship again or return a series that is already recorded under another batch. ### How to assign the series to the right batch

1. Find the batch on which the series is already created, in the document where it was sold.
2. In that document, delete the series you need.
3. Choose or create another batch and add the deleted series to it.

After that, the batch the goods are returned against is freed for shipping the returned series, and the return is posted.
