Product analogues: a replacement when an item is unavailable

In short

Analogues are a list of substitute products in the card of the main product. To set it up, open the product card in "Warehouse → Products and services", click "Add analogue" in the "Analogues" block, select a product and confirm. The analogue's stock balance and price are filled in automatically.

Why you need analogues

Analogues let a manager instantly offer a customer a replacement when the required product is out of stock or too expensive. The “Analogues” block in the card of the main product shows substitutes with current stock and price, so you do not need to look for them in the catalog.

Example. A customer is looking for “Brake pads (Original)”, and the balance is 0. In the “Analogues” block the manager sees “Brake pads (Bosch)” and “Brake pads (Brembo)”. The Bosch analogue is in stock (79 pcs) and costs less, so the manager offers it to the customer.

How to add an analogue

  1. In the Warehouse module, open Products and services and double-click the main product to open its card.
  2. In the card, open the “Analogues” block (tab).
  3. Click Add analogue; a new row appears.
  4. In the “Product” field, select the substitute product from the list.
  5. Click the green check mark at the end of the row to save the entry.

After you select a product, Bimp automatically fills in the “Warehouse balance” (the analogue’s current quantity) and the “Price per main price list” (the current selling price). You do not need to enter them manually.

How to find, change or delete an analogue

If a product has many analogues, use the search in the block: the “Name” field searches by the analogue’s name, the “SKU” field by its code. To change or remove an analogue, click the three dots next to its row:

  • Edit replaces the analogue with another product;
  • Delete removes the analogue from the list.

Analogues are reference information for the manager: they do not change documents by themselves, so you enter a product replacement in a customer order manually. For how to process a sale of a product that is out of stock, see Selling a product that is out of stock.

FAQ

Do I need to enter the analogue's price and stock balance manually?

No. After you select the product, Bimp fills in the warehouse balance and the price from the main price list by itself.

Can I add a product that is not yet in Bimp as an analogue?

No. You can select as an analogue only an item that is already created in the "Products and services" directory.

How do I remove a product from the list of analogues?

Click the "three dots" next to the analogue's row and select "Delete". The "Edit" item lets you replace the analogue with another one.
