Price rounding and the write-off amount: how it is calculated

Updated 1 min read

On this page
In short

Bimp posts goods at the total receipt amount and adjusts rounding through a discount in the document. The write-off amount is calculated from the remaining value: "Remaining amount × Write-off quantity / Remaining quantity" and is always rounded to two decimal places. The price precision in the product card does not change.

How Bimp rounds the receipt amount

Bimp adjusts rounding through a discount in the document and puts the goods on the balance at the total (actual) amount. That is, if the receipt total after rounding differs from the sum of the items, the difference is shown as a discount, and the goods are posted at exactly the actual amount. This keeps the records consistent with reporting and does not change the price precision in the product card.

The formula for the write-off amount

The write-off amount is the value at which goods are written off from the warehouse; it is calculated from the remaining value:

Write-off amount = Remaining amount × Write-off quantity ÷ Remaining quantity

The result is always rounded to two decimal places.

IndicatorWhat it means
“Remaining amount”the remaining value of the goods in the warehouse
“Write-off quantity”how many units are being written off
“Remaining quantity”how many units were in the warehouse before the write-off

Formula: "Write-off amount" equals a fraction, in the numerator "Remaining amount" multiplied by "Write-off quantity", in the denominator "Remaining quantity"

Calculation example

The warehouse has 3 units of a product with a remaining value of 100.00 UAH. 1 unit is written off:

100.00 × 1 ÷ 3 = 33.333… → write-off amount 33.33 UAH. Remaining: 2 units worth 66.67 UAH.

This way the value of the remainder always agrees with the amount at which the goods were posted, even when the price per unit does not divide evenly.

Posting goods is described in Goods receipt, and changing selling prices after a receipt is described in Updating selling prices from a goods receipt document.
