How to change or repost a posted document
On this page
A posted document in Bimp can be edited and saved even when other documents have already been created based on it, for example a Production order. To simply repost a document without changes, type any character on the "Comments" tab and the "Post" button becomes active.
Can I edit a posted document
Yes, a posted document in Bimp can be edited and saved even if other documents have already been created based on it. For example, a Customer order can be changed after a Production order has been created from it: the system does not block changes, so you can correct data quickly.
This applies to documents in different sections: Customer orders, Goods receipts and others. You enter new data the same way as in any document.
How to change a document and save the changes
To change a posted document, open it, make your edits and save.
- Open the document through the relevant section, for example Sales → Orders or Purchasing → Goods receipts.
- Make the changes you need.
- Click Save.
If the document is closed by a lock date, you will not be able to edit it; see Lock date.
How to repost a document without changes
To repost a document without edits, type any character on the “Comments” tab and click “Post”. You need this when the document data is correct, but you must force Bimp to recalculate the records: balances, cost price, settlements.
- Open the document you need.
- Go to the Comments tab.
- Type any character in the comments: a period or a space. After that the Post button becomes active.
- Click Post.
When to repost a document
Repost a document after fixing data its records depend on. Typical cases:
- the price or quantity was corrected in a Goods receipt, and the cost price must be recalculated; see Cost price recalculation;
- documents with additional costs were added to a receipt later, and the costs must be included in the cost price;
- after changing a linked document, the balances must be updated.
After reposting, check the result in the relevant report or in the document card.
Common problems
The “Post” button is inactive and there are no changes. Cause: Bimp turns the button on only when the document has changes. Solution: type a character on the “Comments” tab, as described above.
The document does not save. Cause: the period is closed by a lock date, or required fields in the document are not filled in. Solution: check the lock date and fill in the highlighted fields.
