To launch Bimp without errors, follow these steps in order: sign-up, creating a company, accounting settings, organizations, bank accounts and cash desks, directories, users and roles, opening balances, a test sale. The accounting currency and opening balances are the hardest to fix later, so set them up carefully.
The order of launching Bimp
Launching Bimp takes nine steps, done in the order shown, because each next step uses data from the previous one. Below is the full route with links to detailed instructions. For the general picture of modules and interface, read the Bimp overview. Documents can be passed to accounting through the Bimp exchange with 1C.

Step 1. Register an account
An account is created in a few minutes through Google or with an e-mail and password. A confirmation e-mail is sent to the address you provide. Instructions: Sign-up and sign-in to your account.
Step 2. Create a company
A company is a separate database of your business. Create it with the Create company button on the start screen and enter the name, country, and type of activity. If you run several independent businesses, create a separate company for each. Instructions: Creating and setting up a company.
Step 3. Set up accounting
Open Company settings → Accounting settings and set the VAT rate, accounting currency, national currency, main project, and main organization. The switches for stock control, reservation, and accounting by batches and series are also turned on here.
Instructions: Accounting settings.
Step 4. Check organizations, bank accounts, and currencies
When you create a company, Bimp automatically creates one organization. If you work on behalf of several legal entities or sole proprietors (FOP), add the rest in Directories → Organizations and mark the main one. Then enter bank accounts and cash desks, and for foreign currency, rates. See Organizations, Bank accounts and cash desks, and Currencies, rates, and multi-currency accounting.
If the accounting currency differs from the national one, be sure to set its rate in the “Currencies/Rates” directory.
Step 5. Set up projects, lines of business, and items
For management reporting, create projects and lines of business, as well as income and expense items. By default Bimp creates the project “Main project”. These directories are needed to separate accounting and reports by line of business and to group income and expenses.
Step 6. Fill in the directories
Directories are lists from which documents take products, counterparties, warehouses, and prices. First fill in those needed for opening balances and the first sales:
Large lists are faster to load from Excel: importing products, importing counterparties, importing price lists. An overview of all options is in What you can import into Bimp. The other directories can be added as you work, right from the document fields.
Step 7. Add users and roles
Invite employees on the Company settings → Users tab and assign each a role (administrator, manager, accountant, and so on). The role defines which modules and actions are available. See Users and Access roles. For warehouse staff you can additionally restrict access to certain warehouses.
Step 8. Enter opening balances
Opening balances are a “snapshot” of the company’s state on the start day: goods in warehouses, money in cash desks and on accounts, customer and supplier debts, accountable amounts, payroll, taxes, property. They are entered with the document Finance → Entering opening balances.
- Before entering, fill in the directories so that the needed values are available in the document.
- Enter all balances with one date, for example the last day of the previous month.
- After saving, check the result against the reports “Goods movement”, “Cash flow”, and “Settlements”.
Without balances, the very first sale will show a negative warehouse balance, and customer debts will not appear in the reports. Instructions: Entering opening balances.
Step 9. Make a test sale
Create a test customer order, ship the goods, and register the payment. Check that the warehouse balance, the reserve, and the customer’s debt changed as you expect. The whole path is described in Sales from order to payment.
After the launch
When the balances are entered and checked, lock the accounting:
- set the end date on the Company settings → Change lock date tab, after which documents cannot be created or edited; see Change lock date;
- set up automatic sign-out on the “Security” tab and, if needed, sign-in restriction by IP address;
- connect integrations with banks, delivery services, and online stores.
FAQ
How long does it take to launch Bimp?
It depends on the amount of data. Setting up the company and accounting takes a few minutes; most of the time goes to filling in directories and opening balances. Products and counterparties can be loaded from Excel instead of being entered manually.
Can I change the accounting currency after I start working?
No. After the settings are saved and documents are entered, the accounting currency cannot be changed, so choose the right one from the start.
Do I need to fill in all directories before I start working?
No, it is enough to fill in those needed for opening balances and the first documents. The rest can be added as you work, right from the document fields.
When should I set the change lock date?
After you have entered opening balances and checked them against the reports. The change lock date blocks creating and editing documents up to the specified date.
